Introduction
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state’s casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran’s posts. Gaming in Maryland is a dynamic and growing business that operates around the clock, 365 days of the year.

LOCATION OF POSITION
The incumbent filling this vacancy must be willing to work in either Baltimore County/Harford County or Prince George's County Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to maximize sales and revenues for all Lottery products by visiting approximately 115-125 assigned Lottery retailer locations in a specific territory on a pre-determined cycle and performing duties that correspond with being front line communicators with our retailer network. These duties include increasing revenue generating activities, promotions and lottery ticket sales; and maintaining compliance with lottery laws, regulations and policies with integrity and efficiency. This position relates to the mission of the agency by ensuring the retailer network is maintained at an optimum level; integrity is maintained at all times; and that sales at each retailer location are maximized through utilization of POS, training, in-store merchandising and promotions, and periodic events.
Sales Management
- Visit retailers within an assigned territory on a monthly cycle, performing duties and managing responsibilities that correspond with being a Lottery District Manager.
- Performs timely route management efficiently while balancing Lottery initiatives and product launches in a manner that maintains integrity, safety, and a professional image appropriate for the agency.
- Accurately report total time of sales visit at a Lottery retailer location via the Lottery terminal sign in / sign out protocol.
- Review all sales activity and games reports on a daily and week basis to ensure consistent coverage of the territory and completion of duties. Utilize Sales Force Automation system (gem lntelligence) for accurate and timely reporting.
- Participate in training sessions, regional staff meetings and a monthly meeting with Sales Division to review initiatives.
- Must compartmentalize their vehicle into three distinct areas (point of sale, instant tickets and administrative).
Retailer Network Management
- Supporting all retailers within the territory to ensure proper instant ticket inventory management techniques are being followed.
- Ensure instant ticket inventory levels are within acceptable ranges (i.e. Confirm, In-Transit, Activation status) for each instant ticket retailer assigned to the territory.
- Ensure all instant ticket packs are accountable with the proper transfers, such as removal from retailer location, return of inventory to the warehouse or properly documented with Security as missing.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Two years of experience selling or marketing a consumer product from a wholesaler or manufacturer to retail outlets for resale to consumers.

- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute additional experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

- Three years of wholesale sales and/or business to business sales experience.
- Three years of route sales experience.
- Experience in merchandising.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
