You will play a crucial role in these work areas:
- Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
- Provide engineering support for the systems administrator for systems issues that have been escalated and communicate status to agency management
- Work across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during infrastructure buildouts
- Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific engineering projects
- Develops solutions to a variety of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity
- Perform systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end
- Oversees moderately complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools
- Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Performs continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies
- Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
- Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology
- Conduct system requirements reviews
- Develop Systems architectures
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEEDBring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The
Systems Engineer must have:
• Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
• Experience: 2+ years of related experience
• Required Skills:- Experience with Active Directory
- Experience with Linux or UNIX operating systems
- Understanding of Project Lifecycle Management
- Understanding of Configuration Management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior Real-time operations/systems experience
- Ability to compose functional requirements/specifications documents.
- Ability to guide the selection, implementation, and deployment processes for new technology rollouts.
- Ability to respond to after-hour calls ("provide on-call support")
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Preferred Skills:- Advanced Level Certifications, including at least one advanced certification from a Cloud Provider
- Hands-on experience with automation tools
- Experience with Splunk, Science Logic, Service Now, F5 Load Balancers
- Familiarity with Network Infrastructure
- Experience with SQL database queries and troubleshooting
- Backups (VEEAM, NetBackup, Unitrends)
- Scripting and coding experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Terraform, GIT)
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure Cloud providers
- Familiarity with security baselines (i.e. CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGs
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences at various levels of an organization
• Security Clearance Level: None, but the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher clearance is preferred.

The likely salary range for this position is $82,283 - $111,323. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
