SUMMARY/SCOPE:
TechOps Specialty Vehicles, LLC is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer to lead the design and engineering support of electrical systems within specialty vehicle builds. This role is central to the development and continuous improvement of complex electrical systems, components, and equipment that power our diverse and mission-critical platforms. The ideal candidate will bring over 5 years of experience in mobile power systems, particularly within TechOps ecosystems and possess expertise with SolidWorks Electrical Schematic Design Tool.
As a key contributor, you will collaborate across engineering, sales, and operations teams to adapt and tailor TechOps products to meet evolving customer requirements. From concept through delivery, you’ll play a hands-on role in ensuring our electrical systems are innovative, reliable, and seamlessly integrated into our specialty vehicle solutions
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design and engineering of specialty vehicle systems, including power distribution, communication infrastructure, and electrical integration
- Develop and maintain detailed wiring schematics, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SolidWorks Electrical Schematic
- Design, implement, and support electrical components, instruments, and systems tailored for mobile communication and specialty vehicle applications
- Collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions for new and ongoing projects
- Ensure all designs and installations meet applicable industry standards and customer specifications
- Establish and uphold engineering best practices for construction, manufacturing, and installation processes
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for materials, labor, and overall project execution to support budgeting and planning
- Partner with production teams to ensure quality assurance and successful system integration
- Provide technical expertise and support to the Sales team during proposal development and customer engagements

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with 1–3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on training
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong technical acumen and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer literacy
- Minimum of 2 years of experience using SolidWorks Electrical Schematic and Product Data Management (PDM) systems
- Solid understanding of vehicle manufacturing processes, 12VDC electrical systems, and inverted power configurations and accessories.
- Willingness to work on-site in a hybrid shop/office setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is based at TechOps Specialty Vehicles’ headquarters in Stevensville, MD. The employee will be provided with a dedicated workstation within the Engineering office, with regular time spent in the adjacent production shop. The shop environment is well-lit and ventilated in accordance with Bureau of Labor standards. Noise levels may vary and can be high during machinery operation; appropriate hearing and eye protection is provided and required when necessary.
Employees may occasionally be exposed to seasonal temperature extremes, as well as common shop-related elements such as dust, dirt, and chemical fumes from materials like wood stains and paint.
Travel is expected approximately every other month to vendor locations, customer sites, or project-related events, which may include destinations outside of Maryland and across the United States.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role involves moderate physical activity and requires regular mobility. Employees will frequently walk, stand on concrete floors, use tools and equipment, and work in various positions—including under vehicles, on ladders, and atop vehicles. Lifting up to 25 pounds is common, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are essential for operating tools, forklifts, computers, and other shop equipment for much of the workday.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
