JOB DESCRIPTION
CAD Drafter
Mid-to-senior level CAD Drafter to support federal aviation weather programs. This role will produce construction drawings for aviation weather system installations at U.S. airports and remote FAA facilities. The ideal candidate understands how to develop quality control in CAD standards, create project-specific blocks/templates, and interface effectively with engineers and peer drafters on large, multi-site deployments.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for CAD Drafter: $88,000 - $96,000
Pay commensurate with experience.

CAD Drafter Responsibilities Include:
- Develop site-specific construction drawings for deployment of aviation weather equipment at FAA facilities and airports (Specifically AWOS-C).
- Create / maintain drawing templates, title blocks, symbols, and CAD libraries for reuse across project portfolio.
- Support CAD standards, naming conventions, layers, and drafting practices across the drafting team.
- Coordinate with PMs, engineers, and peer drafters on large portfolio rollouts — maintain consistency and version control.
- Produce drawing revisions in response to redlines, field conditions, or design updates
- Prepare drawing packages for formal submittal (FAA format) and as-built packages post-installation.
- Maintain drawing files for CM (configuration management) traceability.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
CAD Drafter Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- High school diploma is required.
- 5 plus years of Computer Aided Drafting experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD is required.
- Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, are prerequisites.
- Experience with FAA drawing standards is not required but preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience with AutoCAD is required.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
