A growing industrial equipment manufacturer in the Roselle, IL area is seeking a Manufacturing/Production Engineer to support the design, build, and optimization of custom engineered machinery. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of mechanical design, hands-on production support, process improvement, and cross-functional engineering work.
About the Role
The Manufacturing/Production Engineer will work closely with engineering, operations, and assembly teams to ensure that equipment is designed correctly, documented accurately, and built efficiently. This role supports CAD design updates, hydraulics/pneumatics integration, BOM accuracy, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.
You will be involved in the entire engineering-to-production lifecycle, from drawings to finished equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update 2D/3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Support integration of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems into custom machinery.
- Maintain and improve BOMs, part numbers, routings, and production documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, purchasing, and vendors to ensure manufacturability and accuracy.
- Provide hands-on support during assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Assist in design reviews, verification, and prototype testing.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Coordinate with external suppliers to resolve technical issues or clarify requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, and foundational knowledge of fluid dynamics, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a manufacturing, machining, assembly, or industrial equipment environment.
- Familiarity with FEA, testing, or validation methods.
- Experience creating/managing BOMs or working within an ERP environment.
- Hands-on experience with machining, prototyping, or assembly.
