Overview
We are seeking a strategic, creative, and highly organized Social Media Manager to lead the day-to-day management of the Frontwave Arena, San Diego Clippers and San Diego Sockers social channels and grow the brands’ digital presence. This role will oversee content planning, creation, and publishing across all platforms, drive fan engagement, and ensure our social voice remains consistent, compelling, and on-brand. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves sports and live events, and is comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, creative, partnerships, operations, and team personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Publishing
- Create and execute content calendars for each account. Work with internal and external teams to determine content and timing with an emphasis on reinforcing key message points, promotions, campaigns and fun daily content to engage with community.
- Manage daily posting, scheduling, live coverage, and community interaction.
- Maintain platform best practices and stay ahead of emerging trends.
Creative Production & Coordination
- Produce short-form content (Reels, TikToks, behind-the-scenes, player features, sponsor integrations, etc.)
- Capture photo and video content at games, practices, events, and community appearances as needed.
- Source, book, and manage photographers and videographers for sporting events, concerts, and special events.
- Create and communicate shot lists, coverage needs, timelines, and deliverables to ensure high-quality content.
- Collaborate with designers, videographers, photographers, and freelancers to build social-first assets that align with brand goals.
- Must maintain organized, up-to-date digital content libraries across shared drives and storage platforms.
Live Game & Event Coverage
- Lead real-time social coverage for home and away games (including nights and weekends; onsite for home games).
- Create engaging in-game content such as highlights, score updates, storytelling moments, and fan features.
- Support cross-promotional opportunities.
Community Management & Growth
- Monitor and respond to fan comments and messages in real time.
- Identify opportunities to amplify fan-generated content.
- Build and nurture an authentic digital community that reflects our brand values.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track channel performance, trends, and KPIs; provide weekly and monthly insights.
- Use data to optimize content strategy and platform-specific tactics.
- Report performance to internal stakeholders and leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with marketing and partnerships teams on partner contractual deliverables.
- Support ticketing campaigns and promotional pushes.
- Coordinate with team staff, athletes, and PR on storytelling opportunities and approvals.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience managing social media for a brand, sports team, entertainment company, or agency.
- Strong analytical skills are required with proven ability to gauge brand sentiment, impact and create recommendations to further growth and address insights.
- Must be a strong collaborator with good time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and communication skills in all channels and formats with a demonstrated ability to correctly use punctuation and grammar.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to develop content; multitask, prioritize, and work within tight timelines.
- Proficiency in shooting, editing, photography and creating graphic content a plus.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of current events, pop culture and social trends.
- Proficient in various Adobe software (Premier, Photoshop, Illustrator, LightRoom).
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, and game days as required in a live events environment.
- Passion for sports, entertainment, and cultivating online communities.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to lift and operate basic camera and lighting equipment as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation for local events, shoots, and community activations.
