Job Title: HVAC Technical Customer Support For Ductless Mini‑Splits (No Field Work)
Location: Clarendon Hills/Countryside, IL/Remote
Employment Type: Full-time and part-time positions available
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced mini‑split / quick-connect HVAC technician or installer who’s ready to step out of the field and move into a phone/email/chat support role.
If you know these systems inside and out but are tired of climbing ladders, crawling through attics, and working in extreme weather, this might be a perfect fit. You’ll use your real-world experience to help contractors, installers, and distributors with:
- System selection
- Installation best practices
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Warranty and basic product support
No tools, no gauges, no attic insulation—just your expertise and a computer/phone.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support:
- Answer contractor and dealer questions via phone, email, and chat about ductless mini-split systems (installation, commissioning, wiring, settings, etc.).
- Walk technicians through step‑by‑step troubleshooting for common issues (no cooling/heating, error codes, communication issues, condensate problems, etc.).
- Product Guidance:
- Assist with system selection and sizing based on project requirements.
- Help contractors interpret installation manuals, wiring diagrams, and specification sheets.
- Issue Resolution & Documentation:
- Log each inquiry in FreshDesk with clear notes and resolutions.
- Escalate complex or recurring issues to engineering or product teams when needed.
- Customer Education:
- Provide tips and best practices to prevent repeat issues in the field.
- Support training efforts by helping create FAQs, knowledge base articles, and simple guides for installers.
- Internal Collaboration:
- Share feedback from the field with sales, product, and operations teams.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with new models and updates.
Who We’re Looking For
Must-Have Experience & Skills:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, or commissioning mini‑split / ductless systems (any major brand).
- Strong understanding of:
- Refrigeration cycle and charging procedures
- Low-voltage control wiring
- Line sets, evacuation, and leak testing
- Airflow and condensate management
- EPA Certification
- Comfortable reading and explaining wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, and installation manuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills—you can explain technical concepts clearly to other techs.
- Basic computer skills: email, typing, navigating web-based tools/CRMs.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with mini-split and quick-connect mini-split systems..
- Prior experience in technical support, call center, inside sales, or training.
- HVAC certifications (EPA 608, NATE, etc.).
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A seasoned field tech/installer who:
- Still loves HVAC and solving problems
- Wants a more stable schedule and less physical strain
- Enjoys helping other contractors succeed
- Patient, calm, and professional—even when helping someone who’s on a hot roof with a frustrated customer nearby.
- Problem-solver who likes digging into issues, not just “swap the board and see.”
What We Offer
- Remote or in-office positions with a predictable schedule
- Paid time off and holidays for full time employees
- Benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k), and more for full time employees
- Ongoing training on new products and technologies
- The chance to stay in the trade and use your skills—without the heavy lifting and harsh conditions
- Part time or full-time position openings
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could get paid just to help other techs and talk HVAC all day,” this is that job.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 32.0 per week
Benefits:
