About Dataland
Dataland is the applied AI lab for complex operations and customer support. In 8 months, we've grown to multi-million dollar ARR as just two founders and are highly profitable. We’re partnering with some of the fastest growing startups and public companies in the world.
AI is the revolution of our time. Our founding Forward Deployed Engineer at Dataland will be at the forefront of deploying it and making it work. You'll work across voice AI, complex multi-modal agents, and long-running agentic workflows in fintech, healthcare, trust & safety and consumer.
About the founders
We're both former Palantir FDEs (the OG ones), backed by YC and South Park Commons. We know exactly how to win and scale enterprise customer engagements because we've done it before. As an FDE at Dataland, you'll own the full scope of a customer deployment from day one. It's also precisely the best training to become a founder yourself, without having to risk it on your own.
About the role
We're hiring our first FDE to own customer engagements end-to-end: scoping, building, and deploying state-of-the-art applied AI to automate our customers' most complex operational challenges. That means building AI that detects bad actors on a platform, automates complex backoffice healthcare delivery for patients, or enables hypergrowth business models by performing the work of thousands of FTEs.
You will:
- Lead customer engagements end-to-end. You’ll identify the most valuable problems to solve for our customer, embed with their team to deeply understand it, build and deploy applied AI to solve their challenges and achieve their desired outcomes.
- Be the trusted face of Dataland for our customers: You’ll own the relationship with our customers, ranging from executive stakeholders down to frontline users.
- Always be shipping: Constantly scope, build, and ship new workstreams while expanding the impact of existing agentic AI products
- Simply put, write code that makes our customers win and make money
What we're looking for
-
Drive and work ethic. Being an FDE is hard. You will be effectively running your own book of business inside of ours, and it takes real grit to constantly find ways to make customers successful, and evolve our existing engagements towards greater and greater impact.
-
Engineering fundamentals. Most of your time will be spent building software that you’ve scoped out.
-
Deep customer empathy. Your performance is measured by how your customers perform. We only win when our customers win.
-
Strong communication. FDEs spend a lot of time talking directly with customers and internal teams. You need to be a great listener and articulate your thinking clearly.
-
AI fluency: Before you can revolutionize someone else’s workflow, you need to revolutionize yours. You should know how to use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, etc. to make yourself radically efficient.
