About Draco Intelligence
Draco Intelligence is an early-stage dual-use hardware company building ultralight AR HUD systems for high-movement environments across sportand defense. Our systems deliver mission-critical, glanceable information directly in the user’s line of sight—without screens, noise, or distraction.
Founded in Cambridge, MA and now operating from New York, NY, we design wearable systems where weight, optical clarity, reliability, and usability matter more than feature count.
The founding team brings experience across Harvard, MIT, Google, and government-adjacent research and engineering programs, with a strong bias toward shipping hardware that performs outside the lab. We work closely with athletes, operators, and domain experts to inform system design and validation.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Founding Team Hardware Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of our AR wearable hardware platform. This role is focused on AR systems, with hands-on involvement in prototyping, iteration, and system integration for real-world use.
This is a high-impact role within a small, execution-focused team, suited for someone who enjoys building hardware end-to-end and contributing to technical decisions without owning the entire stack.
Responsibilities
- Help design and prototype hardware components and subsystems for AR wearable devices
- Support system-level integration across optics, mechanics, and electronics
- Test and validate hardware in real-world environments and iterate based on findings
- Collaborate closely with optics, embedded, and software engineers
- Assist with early manufacturing considerations and design-for-manufacturability
Qualifications
- Background in hardware engineering, systems engineering, or applied physics
- Experience with AR, VR, wearable technology, or optical/electromechanical systems
- Strong hands-on prototyping and integration experience
- Comfortable operating in a small, fast-moving team environment
Compensation
This is a founding-team role that begins with equity participation, with a planned transition to full-time compensation.
