We’re seeking a detail-oriented temporary Data and Documentation Project Assistant to support a hands-on data documentation project for a construction consulting firm in Seattle. This role involves logging physical evidence, taking precise measurements, photographing materials, and maintaining an organized Excel-based tracking system.
Compensation: $23-$26/hr
Availability: This is a 100% on-site, temporary project (approximately 2 weeks to start) with potential for ongoing work. Schedule: Full-time, normal business hours.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys structured, focused, detail-driven work and takes pride in accurate, well-organized documentation. You should be comfortable following defined processes and working methodically. This role is a great fit for a college student or recent graduate in engineering or architecture, though a background in these fields is not required.
Responsibilities
- Log approximately 700 physical items (copper piping and fittings) into an Excel evidence tracker
- Perform visual inspections and document observed conditions
- Measure item dimensions using calipers and accurately record measurements in Excel
- Photograph each item and organize images in a structured electronic file system
- Create and maintain hyperlinks between Excel entries and corresponding photo files
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and organization of all documentation throughout the project
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- Strong Excel skills, including:
- Data entry, organization, and formatting
- Advanced search functions
- Creating and managing hyperlinks
- Ability to measure physical dimensions of piping using calipers
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable with hands-on work; some items may have oil or dirt
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow defined processes independently
- Background or coursework in engineering, architecture, construction, or a related field is a plus but not required
- Experience with inventory tracking, documentation, or data logging is a plus
- College students or recent graduates are encouraged to apply
