Job Description
Zoeller Pump Company’s Embedded Control Division is seeking a passionate Hardware Design Engineer to join our small, dynamic team developing embedded systems for residential and industrial applications. This role focuses on schematic design initially, with growth into PCB layout and full hardware ownership over time. You will work on projects ranging from microprocessor-based controllers to high-power variable-speed pump drives (240VAC, up to 15A).
Ideal candidates have 5–8 years of experience, but we are open to considering recent graduates or those with less experience who demonstrate strong aptitude and enthusiasm for hardware design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and review electronic schematics for embedded systems
- PCB layout and component selection
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of Electronic Pump Controllers
- Write documentation and support material such as BOMs, ECOs and test reports
- Collaborate with firmware developers and technicians on system integration
- Contribute to design documentation and support compliance efforts (UL, FCC, CE)
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering and/or ASEET plus 5 years of electrical design experience and demonstrated skill in engineering disciplines. Other engineering or technical degrees are acceptable with documented electrical experience and knowledge.
Required Skills/Experience
- Experience with electronic systems and schematics
- Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design
- Ability to read datasheets and design for manufacturability
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desired skills/Experience
- Proficient with Siemens PADS software or other professional software
- Strong understanding of Microcontroller common peripherals (GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, USB, general purpose timers, watchdogs, ADC, PWM)
- Experience with DC and AC motor controllers
· Ethernet, Wi-Fi networks
· Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices
· Exposure to compliance testing
