About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Polymer Compounding Technician / Associate Engineer to support polymer development, compounding, and processing activities in a lab and pilot-scale environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong extrusion and compounding experience who enjoys working close to equipment and materials.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate and maintain small-scale and pilot-scale twin-screw extruders
· Run polymer compounding trials including material preparation, feeding, and pelletizing
· Support injection molding setup, processing, and troubleshooting
· Configure screw elements, temperature profiles, and process parameters
· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of extrusion and molding equipment
· Conduct material characterization using DSC, TGA, and rheology
· Document formulations, processing conditions, and test results
· Maintain a safe, organized lab and processing environment
· Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and production teams
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
· 3–5 years of hands-on experience in polymer compounding or plastics processing
· Experience with twin-screw extrusion, compounding lines, and injection molding
· Use of Microsoft 365, and equipment/instrument rated softwares
· Familiarity with DSC, TGA, rheological and related testing
· Experience maintaining and troubleshooting processing equipment
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple experimental runs
· Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with biopolymers or specialty polymers (PLA, PHA, blends)
· Background in pilot-scale or R&D environments
· Experience with filled or modified polymer systems
· Local experience in the Colorado region
