Job Description Summary: Maintain precision tools and progressive dies for cutting, shaping, or forming metal. Work with Engineering and Production to trouble-shoot progressive dies.
- Must have 5 years' conventional machining, i.e. milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, drill press, etc.
- Must be proficient in die maintenance procedures
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Authorities:
- Read blue prints, sketches, specifications, or CAD/CAM files
- Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces
- Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional and manual tools
- File, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit together properly
- Fit and assemble new dies (progressive, transfer, and single hit)
- Measure finished parts to ensure they meet specifications using precise measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Repair damaged or worn out die components
- Coordinate with engineers and other production staff to understand specific requirements and to troubleshoot problems
- Perform regular maintenance on die components to ensure optimal performance
- Test completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications
- Identify and correct problems in complicated dies and tools
- Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
- Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies
- Document necessary changes (red-line drawings)
- Collaborate with production department personnel
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with safety regulations
Knowledge, skills, abilities, other:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- 2 years of technical school, or equivalent in experience
- 5 years of experience, minimum
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker.
- Good manual dexterity
- Good math skills
- Good technical skills
- Strong Mechanical ability
- Able to working to tenths where necessary
- Able to work independently, complete dies with minimal support
Working Environment:

- Able to lift 40 lbs.
- Able to stand for long periods of time

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
