We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to play a key role in new product introductions, enhance our existing machining processes, and drive improvements in quality and production performance. This position is based on-site, offering close collaboration with our production, quality, and customer engineering teams.
Your Impact
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing, documenting, and refining machining processes for our high-precision components. Your responsibilities will encompass interpreting customer specifications, designing specialized fixturing and tooling, defining operational sequences, and providing crucial support to the shop floor. Your expertise will ensure consistent repeatability, superior quality, and cost-effective production. This is a hands-on technical role, critical to achieving both customer satisfaction and our internal performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, item masters, and all associated data within the ERP system.
- Review new part contracts to determine necessary materials, documentation, and flow-down requirements.
- Analyze prints, drawings, specifications, and requirements to establish efficient manufacturing processes.
- Interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), work instructions, and in-process control plans accurately.
- Collaborate with customers to clarify drawings and specifications, and to discuss potential design enhancements.
- Provide support to production by resolving tooling, fixturing, and machining challenges, ensuring smooth operations.
- Design or redesign fixtures, work holding solutions, and tooling to meet production and quality requirements.
- Develop detailed process drawings and comprehensive work instructions.
- Assist in estimating process steps, tolerances, and manufacturability concerns.
- Ensure compliance by managing internal, customer, and regulatory requirement flow-downs to suppliers and vendors.
- Participate in root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain consistency in established processes and support repeat jobs effectively.
- Help maintain a clean, organized workspace and demonstrate a positive, reliable work ethic.
- Improve the Quality Management System through process improvements and adherence to compliance standards.
- Foster effective teamwork across departments and with supplier partners.
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience in manufacturing process engineering.
- Possess the ability to accurately interpret customer drawings, specifications, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience using CAD/CAM tools such as Mastercam, Unigraphics, or SolidWorks.
- Proven ability to design effective work holding and fixturing solutions, and select appropriate tooling.
- Proficient in sequencing part processes to achieve quality, cost, and throughput targets.
- Possess strong troubleshooting skills related to fixturing, tooling, machining strategies, and process flow.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a CNC machining or precision fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and the creation/maintenance of BOMs, routings, and item masters.
- Experience collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
