Avicenna Accounting Automation Inc. is a dynamic and growing accounting firm dedicated to providing top-tier financial services to our clients. We’re seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant to join our team and support our ongoing financial operations.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and be proficient in bookkeeping, financial reconciliation, and data management. This role requires a deep knowledge of the Chart of Accounts, General Ledger (GL) accounts, and financial statements, along with the ability to differentiate between the income statement and balance sheet. Experience with tax returns is not required but is a valued plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Bookkeeping & Reconciliation: Accurately record and reconcile transactions monthly to ensure all accounts are balanced and current.
- Data Entry: Maintain financial records with meticulous data entry, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all financial reports.
- Understanding Chart of Accounts: Classify and manage financial information by accurately applying the chart of accounts structure.
- General Ledger (GL) Management: Monitor and adjust GL accounts to reflect true financial position, identifying any discrepancies.
- Financial Statement Proficiency: Prepare and understand income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and analyze variances.
- Income vs. Balance Sheet Knowledge: Distinguish effectively between elements of the income statement and balance sheet and understand how they relate to the financial health of clients.
- Tax Return Knowledge (Not mandatory): Experience with tax returns is a strong plus, though not required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or Thomson Reuters is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
