Woods & Co Recruitment is partnered with a rapidly expanding specialty underwriting platform who are seeking a Head of Environmental Underwriting to play a pivotal role in building and scaling a national environmental practice. The candidate will have a remit of the whole U.S. surety function from day one and a clear mandate to drive growth, build a team, and shape the underwriting strategy in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.

What you’ll do:
- Lead U.S. environmental underwriting strategy and portfolio growth on a national basis.
- Build, hire, and mentor a scalable underwriting team as the platform expands.
- Define appetite, pricing, authority levels, and underwriting framework.
- Develop and deepen wholesale and retail broker relationships across the U.S.
- Partner closely with senior leadership and capacity providers to drive profitable growth.
What we’re looking for:
- 10+ years of experience in Environmental underwriting within a carrier or MGA environment.
- Proven track record of building, growing, or managing an environmental book of business.
- Commercial mindset with a strong focus on disciplined, profitable growth.
- Confident market-facing presence with established broker relationships.
