Summary of Position:
S&B Christ Consulting is a dynamic full-service Architectural/Engineering, environmental consulting and construction management small business founded in 2009 with a clear focus on customer service. We are headquartered in Las Vegas, NV with satellite offices in Colorado Springs, CO and San Diego, CA. We have performed work around the world, but we primarily focus on the central mountains and southwest region of the US performing work for federal agencies.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated individual to serve as an Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing and analyzing electrical systems for buildings, infrastructure, and underground installations. This role provides technical support throughout the engineering process and contributes to the successful completion of projects. The Electrical Engineer applies fundamental electrical engineering principles, utilizes computer-aided design software, and ensures that all system designs meet established specifications, safety requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Electrical System Design: Develops electrical system layouts and designs for structural and underground projects, including power distribution, lighting systems, grounding, and emergency power systems. Ensures designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with project specifications.
· Engineering Analysis and Calculations: Performs electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short circuit analysis, and other technical evaluations to ensure system performance, safety, and reliability.
· Underground Electrical Design: Assists in the design of underground electrical systems such as conduit routing, duct banks, vaults, handholes, and coordination with utility services. Ensures proper integration with civil and structural elements.
· Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Documentation: Utilizes computer-aided drafting and design software to prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and construction documents. Maintains accurate and organized design files.
· Code and Standards Compliance: Ensures all designs comply with applicable electrical codes (including NEC), safety regulations, and industry standards. Incorporates regulatory requirements into project documentation.
· Technical Support and Collaboration: Works closely with senior engineers, project managers, architects, and other disciplines to support project development and resolve technical challenges. Participates in design reviews and coordination meetings.
· Construction Support: Assists during the construction phase by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits to verify installation compliance with design intent.
· Quality Assurance: Reviews designs for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established specifications. Supports continuous improvement of design processes and documentation standards.
· Documentation and Reporting: Maintains project documentation, including calculations, revisions, and technical reports. Provides updates and technical input to project leadership as required. Ability to coordinate with a diverse team of engineering disciplines to include architects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes
· Experience with power distribution systems (low and medium voltage)
· Proficiency in load calculations, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop calculations
· Experience designing lighting, power, grounding, and fire alarm systems
· Familiarity with emergency power systems, generators, and UPS systems
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
· Knowledge of energy codes and sustainable design practices
· LEED accreditation a plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. Minimum five (5) years in electrical engineering.

· Professional Engineer’s License, Required

- Site Visits: Occasional visits to project sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and physical terrains.
- Travel: Occasional travel is required to attend client meetings, site visits, conferences, or training sessions.
- Travel may involve extended periods away from the office and vary in frequency.
- Equipment Use: Daily use of office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
