We are seeking a talented individual to join our Wealth Investment team at Mercer, a Marsh business. This role can be based in New York City, Chicago, Boston, or Minneapolis and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As an Insurance Investment Consultant, you will collaborate closely with insurance clients and internal insurance team members to support investment portfolio needs through analysis, research, and communication. You will contribute to portfolio construction, asset allocation, and manager implementation while staying informed on market and regulatory developments affecting client portfolios. The team fosters professional growth in a supportive, inclusive environment, leveraging deep insurance investment expertise to deliver tailored advice and solutions.
We will count on you to:
- Become a subject matter expert in insurance investment strategy both internally and externally by staying abreast of markets, insurance regulatory changes, and other economic conditions that could affect client portfolios
- Contribute to asset allocation, portfolio construction, and manager implementation idea generation across client portfolios
- Provide investment content, analysis and advice to insurance company clients on the determination of investment objectives, establishment of investment policy, selection of investment managers and monitoring of investments across their various investment pools (e.g. general account assets)
- Determine clients' requirements and brief the team as appropriate, providing the direction and guidance required to ensure deadlines and services standards are met
- Ensure that specialist teams are involved in the provision of advice as and when appropriate.
- Peer review reports, adding client specific information and ensuring client suitability
- Manages and produces performance evaluation reports for their assigned clients by using Mercer proprietary tools (GIMD, Investment Metrics/PARIS, MPA,) as well as Microsoft tools, which cover the client's portfolio performance of each of the underlying investment strategies
- Prepare and manage the development of the quarterly market environment presentation utilizing Mercer standard materials, which includes the general state of the economy, how the stock/bond markets did both domestically and internationally, and economic trends and changes in regulations
- Filters through research notes in Mercer investment manager database, MercerInsight; to look for issues that may affect clients’ portfolios
- Attend and participate in quarterly client meetings. Over time meeting responsibilities will increase and Associate will be expected to present specific areas of review. (i.e. manager updates, manager performance, and/or asset allocation)
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, economics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in investment and/or financial analysis
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, particularly with complex investment and data sets
- Superior organizational and time management skills, and strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

- Prior experience with SAA optimization, FactSet portfolio modules, and Capital IQ research
- Familiarity with the Clearwater portfolio accounting system

Marsh is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $67,000 to $134,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
