Reports to: Creative Director / Design Director / Senior Designer
Position Summary
The Designer supports the creative team in developing compelling packaging solutions aligned with strategic marketing objectives and consumer insights. This role works closely with Senior Designers, Design Directors, Creative Directors, and Account Services to execute creative concepts from ideation through final production.
The Designer assists in the development and execution of packaging design systems, brand extensions, and visual assets that support client objectives and uphold the agency’s creative standards. They contribute to brainstorming sessions, prepare design presentations, refine concepts based on feedback, and ensure files are properly prepared for production.
This role requires strong design fundamentals, curiosity, attention to detail, and a desire to grow within a collaborative, fast-paced packaging design environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate strategic marketing briefs into thoughtful design solutions under the direction of senior creative staff.
- Support the development of packaging concepts, visual systems, and brand extensions.
- Execute revisions and refinements based on internal and client feedback.
- Prepare presentation materials for internal reviews and client meetings.
- Collaborate with the Production Lead to prepare accurate, press-ready files.
- Maintain consistency and integrity of brand guidelines across all deliverables.
- Manage assigned tasks to meet project timelines and deadlines.
- Participate in creative brainstorms and contribute ideas to team discussions.
- Maintain organized digital files and follow agency workflow processes.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong foundational design skills (typography, layout, color, composition).
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to receive direction and apply feedback constructively.
- Team-oriented with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
- Understanding of packaging production and pre-press requirements is a plus.
Computer Software Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign
- Keynote (or presentation software)
- MS Office
Experience
- 0–2 years of experience in a creative studio, packaging firm, or relevant internship experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field
- Portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual thinking and solid design fundamentals
This is a hybrid role that requires you to work in our Naperville, IL office a few days per week. Relocation assistance is not provided.
