Position: Controller
Atlas Factoring, LLC a leading Factoring company based in El Paso, Texas is seeking a qualified Controller
Position Overview:
The Controller reports to the President & Executive VP and is a key member of the Finance team. The Controller is responsible for providing thought leadership for the Accounting function, inclusive of general accounting, financial reporting, treasury/cash management, accounts payable/vendor management, accounts receivable/ billing, payroll, internal controls, loss prevention, risk management, regulatory compliance and taxes.
Job Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and analyze material variances versus budget/forecast/prior year
- Ensure financial statements are in compliance with company financial accounting policies and US GAAP
- Ensure strict compliance with internal control processes and procedures
- Provide all necessary support regarding quarterly review and annual financial statement audit procedures performed by our external audit firm, as well as any financial reporting requirements to other third party constituents/agencies
- Provide thought leadership on appropriate accounting practices for optimizing financial structure
- Establish subject matter expertise on existing and emerging accounting and reporting standards from the associated governing bodies
- Partner with external auditors to ensure implementation of optimal book and tax reporting strategies
Operational Accounting
- Ensure timely and accurate transaction processing and accounting within the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable Fixed Assets, Leases, Payroll.
- Partner with all departments to ensure efficient processes are in place to minimize any negative impact to Company financials.
- Manage all billing processes and customer relationships to ensure timely and accurate collections
- Provide leadership for continuous process improvements to drive productivity and cost savings in transaction-oriented areas
- Monitor and optimize the level of financial controls to minimize both the financial risk to the Company, as well as the cost of controls
- Provide best-in-class support to other departments to drive business value through streamlined processes and timely reporting
Treasury/Cash Management
- Provide timely and accurate cash flow forecasts and recommend cash management strategies that yield optimal returns
- Maintain excellent banking relationships and ensure compliance with all bank regulatory reporting requirements for debt agreements and covenants
Risk Management
- Develop best practices and provide thought leadership to minimize financial loss for the Company through managing the Loss Prevention
- Partner with HR and Safety in managing costs of all employee benefits, occupational injury program, general liability and other insurance commitments to appropriately balance financial risk and cost implications
Talent Planning & Retention
- Build a world class accounting team through effective recruiting, development and mentoring of high-potential talent
- Define roles and responsibilities for the Accounting team and quickly assess if the current team possess the right skills to support the job accountabilities and expected performance standards of excellence
- Provide leadership and coaching to support a service mentality, a focus on problem-solving and improved business partnering
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant Financial and Accounting management experience
- CPA is preferred; MBA is desired
- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting skills and familiarity with US GAAP
- Strong internal control orientation
- Treasury and Risk Management experience is required; Factoring industry experience is highly desired
- Strong leadership skills and proven track record of recruiting and developing talent
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a proficiency to present complex business issues to all levels of senior management
- Experience in effectively leading teams through a rapidly changing business environment
- Proven capability to evaluate and implement strategies to drive cost savings
- Demonstrated orientation to action in a flexible, fast-paced work environment
- Integrity and ethics that are beyond reproach
- PC skills; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Outlook, etc. Knowledge and experience in WinFactor software a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
