Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist
Contract-to-Hire · 12-Month Contract
Primary: Tewksbury, MA (75%) · Secondary: Andover, MA (25%)
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Flexible)
Pay Rate: $33–$34/hr
About the Role
You'll support environmental, health, and safety programs across engineering and manufacturing operations at two Massachusetts sites. The work leans heavily into environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, and sustainability — while also covering the full breadth of EH&S: industrial hygiene, safety inspections, training, and incident investigation.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and continuously improve EH&S programs — JHAs, PPE assessments, ergonomics, contractor safety, and more.
- Conduct EHS inspections, noise/ventilation surveys, respirator fit testing, and industrial hygiene sampling.
- Oversee hazardous and universal waste accumulation areas: labeling, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Support environmental compliance reporting and lead sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate goals.
- Lead or support root cause investigations for safety incidents; track corrective actions through resolution.
- Develop and deliver EH&S training for employees and contractors.
- Support behavioral-based safety programs and site emergency response.
- Perform ergonomic assessments in both industrial and office settings.
- Interpret OSHA, NIOSH, and ANSI standards to maintain regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Have
- 1–2 years of hands-on EH&S experience (a degree in an EHS-related field is a plus, not a requirement).
- Solid experience with hazardous waste management: Hazard Communication training, handling, labeling, and inspections.
- Working knowledge of environmental compliance reporting processes.
- Strong command of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards with practical application.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Nice-to-Have
- Experience designing and delivering EH&S training programs.
- Familiarity with EH&S databases or reporting systems.
- Background supporting corporate sustainability initiatives.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation: $33–$34/hr with a path to full-time benefits at 12 months.
- Flexible schedule and structured split-site routine — no ambiguity about where you’re expected.
- Meaningful work across both environmental compliance and broad EH&S disciplines.
