About The Program
The Investment Analyst Program at the Savory Fund is designed to provide candidates with deep investment and business experience that forms a foundation for a career in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, and/or entrepreneurship. Analysts will gain experience in investment sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, strategic planning, capital budgeting, and valuation.
Requirements And Experience
- Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, engineering, or another quantitative-centric field
- 6–24 months of experience in one or more of the following environments: Consulting, Investment Banking, Equity Research, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Corporate Strategy, or Entrepreneurship
- In addition to some experience in the above settings, candidates must have a grasp of the entrepreneurial process and investment environment. Candidates would be enhanced with some operational experience in a startup, growth, or tech-oriented company.
- Candidate must possess the ability to meet deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
- Candidate must be able to interface well with portfolio CEOs and executives, other investors, limited partners, and boards of directors. Must be socially capable and persuasive. An ability to quickly garner credibility when presenting before these types of audiences is critical.
Duties
- Financial statement modeling: Create forecasts and analyses to model the effects of changes in key business assumptions
- Due diligence: Drive process to identify and mitigate risks and author action plans to improve growth
- FP&A and portfolio brand financial support: (NEW) Provide financial planning and analysis support to portfolio brands, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ad hoc financial reporting to drive operational and strategic decision-making across the portfolio
- Market research: Identify new investment trends and opportunities
- Deal screening: Identify targets, call and/or meet with prospects, evaluate opportunities
- Competitive landscape: Map the competitive, partner, and acquisition companies against the target
- Valuations: Prepare market-based valuations using observable private and public information
- Internal firm documentation: Build investment memo, performance plan, and harvest forecasting
