About the job:
CRIMSON is seeking a process-driven and "continuous improver" UX Web / Graphic Designer to join our high-energy integrated marketing firm in Downtown Detroit. This role focuses on the intersection of website user experience research, design systems, and high-end graphic design. The ideal candidate is a strategic visual thinker who is confident in expressing their expert opinion but humble enough to serve the greater goal of the project.
You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts to develop and execute original concepts that elevate our brand and those of our clients, ranging from global enterprises to local nonprofits. You must be comfortable presenting to clients and working with developers for design and experience research, handoff, and ideation, while ensuring all digital touchpoints follow UX best practices.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead proactive website user experience research and UX best practice implementation to guide project direction.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems and website wireframes to ensure brand consistency across all platforms.
- Demonstrate exceptional typography, layout, and visual storytelling skills across digital and print mediums.
- Confidently present research, design concepts, and strategic rationale to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with developers for research, ideation, and seamless design handoff.
- Produce creative work for a variety of clients that ensures alignment with brand guidelines while pushing creative boundaries.
- Desire to educate and simplify complex technical topics for clients and team members.
- Responsible for projects from beginning conceptual stages through approval, while communicating challenges and managing expectations/deadlines.
- Initiate and participate in brainstorming sessions to create concepts for current and future projects.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional design experience, ideally within an agency or brand environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX Design, Communication Design, or a related field.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Strong proficiency and comfort in using AI tools to enhance creative workflows and productivity.
- Familiarity with web concepts, frameworks, responsive design principles, and digital production processes.
- Knowing code (HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript) is a plus but not required.
- Must be a detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven creative.
- Ability to express clear opinions while remaining flexible and open to team-wide collaboration.
- A "continuous improver" and self-motivated learner with strong problem-solving ability.
