Business Analyst – Physical Access Control System
Client is seeking a Business Analyst who is motivated by variety, is seeking a challenging environment for professional growth, and is interested in supporting large information technology projects headquartered in Seattle.
The business analyst should have strong technical and analytical skills for defining business requirements related to physical access control system implementation. This role supports all aspects of our four-pillar approach to business analysis, including adherence to the BABOK standards, organizational change management, performance metrics based upon balanced scorecard, and continuous process improvement when designing future state.
Responsibilities:
- Recommend and assess impacts of changes that enable the project to achieve its goals; capture, analyze, and document requirements; and support communication/delivery of requirements to stakeholders
- Organizational Change Management and Business Process Mapping
- Learn the PACS (Physical Access Control System) functionality
- Validate functionality meetings business requirements – Requirements Traceability Matrix
- Participate in testing as needed
- Align with teams for end-user communications plan with implementation timeline
- Provide availability for knowledge transfer
- Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve operational problems and developing future project definitions through analysis of current state business processes
- Develop and present consultation findings to contribute to client's decision path
- Engage and work closely with business customers at all levels from front-line to Executive leadership
- Ensure business goals and strategies are reflected in the recommended solution
- Identify, recommend, and document specific business and technology requirements
- Develop software fit/gap analyses, preliminary and detailed business requirements, use cases/user stories, software requirements, and process/workflow diagrams
- Communicate requirements and opportunities to all levels of the organization and to audiences of varying degrees of technical knowledge
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business processes and the associated IT systems as informed by business staff
- Build a strong working relationship with key business stakeholders, client SME’s, and all the various IT resources to ensure the IT organization is focusing on the right services and products required by the business
- Gather and evaluate information from multiple sources for project planning, requirements gathering, including interpreting high-level information; abstracting from low-level information to a general understanding; and evaluating user requests to perceive the underlying needs of the business
- Support the four-pillar approach to business analysis, including completion of deliverables following the BABOK standards, developing organizational change management plans and deliverables following the Prosci® model and ACMP standard, identifying and developing performance metrics, and support continuous improvement objectives
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics or a related field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3 implementations with physical access applications or related experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting physical access systems implementations
- 2+ years demonstrated comprehension of technical terminology relating to servers, networking, and associated integration with OT technologies
- Proven ability to facilitate complex requirements elicitation sessions and manage traceability throughout project lifecycle
- Experience owning and maintaining Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM) across planning, testing, and delivery phases
- Demonstrated experience translating stakeholder needs into structured, testable business and system requirements
- Strong technical writing skills with proven ability to produce clear, maintainable process documentation, SOPs, and operational artifacts
- Experience supporting vendor solution design validation, UAT planning, and stakeholder signoff
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate across technical and non-technical teams
