About PerformaMatch
PerformaMatch is an AI-powered casting platform built for performers — connecting talent with audition opportunities through smart matching, workflow automation, and merit-first visibility. We believe every performer deserves equal access to opportunity, and we're building the tools to make that a reality.
We're a small, fast-moving team based in New York, and we're looking for a curious, design-minded intern to help us make PerformaMatch as intuitive and delightful as possible.
The Role
As our UI/UX Designer Intern, you'll play a hands-on role in evaluating and improving the user experience of www.performamatch.com. You'll work directly with the founding team to identify friction points, test new ideas, and translate user feedback into actionable design improvements.
This is a great opportunity to gain real product experience at an early-stage startup — your work will have immediate, visible impact.
What You'll Do
• Conduct usability testing sessions with real users (performers and casting directors) to surface pain points and opportunities
• Audit existing UX flows — onboarding, profile creation, AI match results, opportunity tracking — and document findings
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and design mockups using Figma (or similar tools) to propose improvements
• Collaborate with the product and engineering team to prioritize and implement UX enhancements
• Help define and maintain a consistent visual design language across the platform
• Contribute to feature discovery by synthesizing user feedback into clear design briefs
What We're Looking For
• Currently pursuing a degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related field
• Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, or similar prototyping tools
• Basic understanding of usability testing methods (think-aloud, heuristic evaluation, etc.)
• A user-first mindset — you ask "why" before jumping to solutions
• Strong communication skills and an eye for clean, accessible design
• Bonus: Interest in the performing arts, entertainment tech, or AI-driven products
