Inventory Planning Analyst
Analytics & Reporting | Site Merchandising | Cross-functional Coordination
The Inventory Planning Analyst is a hybrid role that requires both strong analytical capability and sharp merchandising instincts. Day-to-day, that means generating reporting and insights that inform business decisions, while also maintaining the site experience — product pages, categories, search, and campaigns — that converts them. The position works closely with Planning, Merchandising, Marketing, and Creative.
Key ResponsibilitiesAnalytics & reporting
• Performance reporting: Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, revenue, and key performance indicators. Translate data into clear, actionable insights for the broader team. Ensure product attributes are accurate and help support meaningful reporting.
• Inventory monitoring: Track in-stock rates and flag reorder opportunities to help ensure product availability and minimize lost sales.
• Assortment analysis: Evaluate product performance to identify opportunities for growth, rationalization, or repositioning.
• Promotions analysis: Assess the effectiveness of promotional periods, special offers, and digital codes to inform future planning decisions.
• Incremental growth: Support the Planning team in identifying and executing onsite strategies that drive repeat purchase and improve customer lifetime value.
Site merchandising & operations
• Product setup & launch: Manage the end-to-end setup of new products online — ensuring all content, imagery, pricing, and attributes are accurate, complete, and conversion-ready before go-live.
• Category & search management: Maintain product categories, filters, and search functionality. Implement and refine product ranking, cross-sell, and up-sell placements to improve the user journey.
• Campaigns & promotions: Execute online promotions and marketing campaigns in close coordination with Merchandising and Marketing, ensuring products are correctly featured and accurately represented.
• Content & visual merchandising: Ensure product pages are visually compelling and commercially effective. Contribute to A/B testing initiatives aimed at driving incremental conversion and margin.
• Sample & shoot coordination: Coordinate product samples for photoshoots and internal reviews — tracking assets, managing timelines, and keeping the right people looped in.
• Quality assurance: Conduct regular site audits to catch and resolve issues — broken links, missing imagery, incorrect product details — before they reach the customer.
• PO support: Assist with purchase order creation and management to help ensure timely receipt of product and accessories.
Skills & Experience• Experience: 2+ years in an eCommerce, merchandising, or planning role with meaningful exposure to site operations and eCommerce metrics.
• Platform fluency: Hands-on experience with an eCommerce platform in a product company. Shopify experience strongly preferred.
• Data & analytics: Solid Excel skills — pivot tables, vlookups, data manipulation. Comfortable working with large datasets and turning them into clear takeaways.
• Cross-functional communication: Able to work effectively across Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, and Planning teams without losing anything in translation.
Traits for Success• Self-starter: You identify problems before they’re handed to you, and you move to resolve them.
• Organized & adaptable: Comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, lean environment where priorities can shift quickly.
• Analytically sharp: You can spot what the numbers are saying — and communicate it simply to people who didn’t pull the data themselves.
• Eye for detail: Whether it’s a data discrepancy or a product page that’s slightly off, you notice — and you care enough to fix it.
• Analytical and creative in equal measure: You’re as comfortable in a spreadsheet as you are reviewing how a collection page looks and feels. That balance is rare, and it’s what this role needs.
