Role Description
The Junior Designer plays an integral role in supporting the design team across all phases of a project. This position requires both creative and technical engagement, with the ability to contribute to design development while managing day-to-day project responsibilities.
Working under the guidance of Project Managers and Principals, the Junior Designer will execute assignments with a clear understanding of expected outcomes, while also taking initiative to solve design and technical challenges within larger projects. This role involves developing design concepts, creating mood boards and material palettes, and assisting in client presentations and communication.
The Junior Designer is responsible for preparing detailed drawings and specifications for construction and installation, sourcing furniture, fixtures, finishes, and materials aligned with project goals and budgets, and supporting all coordination efforts related to design boards and FF&E documentation. This role also includes collaboration with architects, contractors, and vendors, conducting site visits, and ensuring projects progress in alignment with timelines and budgets.
Additionally, the Junior Designer will help guide and review the work of Design Assistants and Interns, contributing to the overall growth and aesthetic direction of the team. Strong organization, communication, and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Work Style & Qualifications:
- Degree in Interior Design
- Strong ability to develop and present design concepts, mood boards, and material palettes
- Proficiency in preparing detailed drawings and construction documentation
- Experience sourcing furniture, fixtures, finishes, and materials aligned with project scope and budget
- Confident communicator with experience leading or contributing to client and vendor meetings
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and consistent in follow-through
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
