What To Expect
We are seeking a multi-faceted Quality Engineer to take ownership of all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting plastic components.
You will work with other Engineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures for field issues, improving the quality, reliability, and durability of Tesla products.
What You'll Do
Responsible for stamping press and injection molding components quality Development of manufacturing requirements, quality standards and product quality plans to assure products will meet expectations of our target customers Deployment of manufacturing level requirements to subsystems, assemblies & components to assure clear focus on design and customer needs Identification of critical requirements to assure proper supplier and production focus on critical needs Leading development of FMEAs (Design & Process) for development teams to identify and address critical risks Perform failure analysis using engineering and manufacturing expertise; conduct root cause analysis (5-Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree) and implement corrective actions, diagnostics, and repairsCollaborate with engineering, service, diagnostics, and quality teams to communicate insights, refine procedures, and drive scalable solutions; support documentation, remote tools, and design reviews (DFMEAs, PFMEAs)Lead continuous improvements, preventive actions, and process optimizations; participate in NPI, DOE, statistical analysis, audits, training, and incident response
What You'll Bring
Degree in Software, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experienceHands-on failure analysis experience (consumer electronics, semiconductors, EVs, automotive preferred); entry-level with co-ops/internships (e.g., Formula SAE) consideredProficiency in software/firmware tools, logs, plastics troubleshooting, and manufacturing processesKnowledge of failure analysis tools, statistical software (Python, Minitab, JMP), quality standards (ASME, ISO 9001), DOE, and inspectionsData management and interpretation using business systemsStrong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detailExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaborationProactive, ownership-driven mindset focused on quality, safety, integrity, and adaptability
