Adecco Creative is partnering with a luxury NYC fashion brand to recruit for an Assistant Merchandiser role. This position will be ongoing contract and hybrid in NYC.
Job Title: Assistant Merchandiser
Role Purpose:
The Assistant Merchandiser supports the execution of seasonal assortments through strong operational coordination, data accuracy, and cross‑functional communication. This role focuses on maintaining systems, processes, and market readiness while contributing analysis and insights that support merchandising decisions and team efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Manager with the development of Global category line architecture by compiling and organizing inputs related to individual Market needs and business trends
- Support development milestone meeting preparation, including Sketch Review, Line Pricing, Proto Review, Market Edits, and Internal Market Presentations
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Design, Production, and cross‑functional partners to support execution of seasonal assortments from concept through Market
- Own data entry and ongoing maintenance in retail software; ensure data integrity and manage all related system communications
- Manage Market preparation, including sample organization, showroom and system set‑up, and Market materials
- Coordinate Market communication with Business Units (e.g., style additions, changes, and updates)
- Analyze global sales performance, customer feedback, and historical data on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis to support future assorting and communicate key learnings to Design
- Monitor the competitive landscape and market newness; summarize trends and observations to support identification of potential gaps and opportunities
- Act as the departmental point of contact for cross‑category special projects, including collaborations
- Manage creative requests, including style naming, marketing special projects, packaging, and hang tag requests
- Maintain the seasonal Product Knowledge File to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date information is accessible to all cross‑functional partners (e.g., Buying, Sales, Creative Marketing, Ecommerce)
- Maintain seasonal metrics and tracking files to monitor key performance indicators, including SKU count, adoption ratio, global alignment, and margin
Qualifications:
- 1+ year(s) of relevant experience in merchandising, retail, or a related product environment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong time‑management skills; able to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
- Demonstrated ability to learn, utilize, and master internal systems and tools
- Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Highly organized and process‑oriented, with strong follow‑through
- Self‑motivated and proactive, with a developing problem‑solving skillset and willingness to ask questions and learn
- Team‑oriented mindset with a passion for the brand, product, and category
- Foundational knowledge of fashion and merchandising concepts
- Retail math training or aptitude preferred
