Company Description
Obsidian CIO is the first technology-driven OCIO purpose-built for independent RIAs. We partner with advisors to deliver institutional-caliber investment solutions - spanning model portfolios, alternatives, tax optimization, and cash management - giving them the capabilities of a large firm without sacrificing customization or control. Our mission is simple: empower advisors to deepen client relationships, scale their practices, and compete at the highest level.
Role Description
This is a full-time Operations and Strategy Analyst position based in Manhattan, NY, with flexibility for some remote work. The Operations and Strategy Analyst will play a central role in Obsidian's operating infrastructure - running and improving core operational workflows across trading, firm onboarding, reporting, managing operations for private asset allocations including subscription paperwork, capital call processes, and custodian-level settings, and partnering with the technology, investment, and client teams on cross-functional initiatives. The role also includes scoping requirements and evaluating vendors on new platform implementations, translating between investment, operations, and technology stakeholders to ensure what gets built matches what is actually needed, and identifying process gaps and driving solutions through to implementation.
Qualifications
- Exceptional organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple work-streams, track competing priorities, and own the details that keep operations running
- Strong process and workflow instincts, with the ability to see how work moves through a system and identify where it breaks down
- Highly analytical, with demonstrated proficiency in structuring problems, working with data, and interpreting results to inform operational and strategic decisions
- Familiarity with investments and capital markets, with the ability to engage substantively on topics such as ETFs, portfolio construction, and private market investments without requiring foundational explanation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear memos, lead working meetings, and constructively push back when warranted
- Self-directed and driven, with a track record of moving initiatives forward independently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment
- Experience evaluating and implementing SaaS platforms or working with workflow and knowledge management tools is a plus
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across investment, operations, and technology teams
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field required
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience in financial services operations, business analysis, consulting, or strategy required; prior experience at an RIA, wealth management firm, or asset management firm is a plus
