About the Role
We are looking for a product-focused UI/UX Designer who has designed production interfaces and knows what it takes to balance beautiful aesthetics with complex user workflows. This is a hands-on, full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX.
At Classed, we are a dynamic and innovative organization dedicated to designing intuitive and user-friendly experiences. We specialize in creating impactful solutions that blend creativity with functionality to meet the needs of our diverse audience. This is an early seat that genuinely changes where your career goes. You will not be a cog in a large design org; you will be in the room where decisions get made, and the work you do here will be visible, consequential, and yours.
Our team values collaboration, innovation, and absolute attention to detail to deliver exceptional digital experiences while fostering a work culture that inspires growth and excellence.
What You'll Do
Own the Core Product Interface: Design intuitive, user-centered digital experiences for both mobile and web applications, focusing on highly interactive, real-time features.
Create End-to-End Assets: Develop high-quality mockups, visual design assets, and interactive prototypes to rapidly bring new ideas and feature concepts to life.
Bridge Design and Engineering: Drive the design-to-development workflow by contributing to the front-end development process, ensuring a seamless implementation of your designs.
Establish the Design System: Build, maintain, and scale a robust, component-based design system in Figma to ensure visual consistency and speed up engineering production.
Incorporate User Insights: Utilize User Experience Design (UED) principles, user research, and feedback to continuous iterate on workflows, making dense platforms feel frictionless.
Collaborate Directly with Founders: Work alongside the executive and engineering teams to shape product architecture, strategy, and user personas.
What We Need
Shipped to Production: You have designed at least one live digital product that real users depend on. We want to see how your designs translated to the real world.
Mastery of Design & Prototyping Tools: Expert-level command of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms to translate ideas into interactive digital applications.
Front-End Knowledge: Functional understanding and working knowledge of front-end development to closely support the engineering workflow and maintain design integrity.
User-Centered DNA: Strong skills in User Experience Design (UED) with a portfolio that proves you design for the user's needs, not just for aesthetic points.
Data & Logic Density: Experience designing complex, information-heavy interfaces (dashboards, messaging platforms, or permission matrices) without cluttering the UI.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
Technical Skills We Are Looking For
Proficiency in creating high-fidelity mockups, typography layouts, and micro-interactions. Advanced prototyping capabilities within Figma to demonstrate real-time states and transitions. Mobile-first and responsive web design frameworks. Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JS mechanics to align perfectly with front-end development constraints. Demonstrated ability to collaborate tightly in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
What We Actually Care About
You have built things that are running right now, not just concept screens or theoretical portfolio pieces. You know what breaks when a design meets a real user, and you’ve iterated on a live product before. You build Figma files that the next person—and the engineering team—can actually understand and build on. You ask good questions before you start drawing vectors and you push back when a feature requirement does not make sense for the user. You take ownership of the outcome, not just the task.
What This Is Not
This is not a remote or hybrid role. This is an on-site position in Austin, TX, built for high-bandwidth, in-person collaboration. This is not a junior role dressed up as mid-level. This is not an agency role where you hand off a mockup and walk away; you are embedding with the team to ship a living product.
What We Offer
Competitive salary plus meaningful equity. Housing is included as part of this role, so you can show up in Austin and focus entirely on the work without the friction of figuring out a new city.
You are joining at a stage where the team is small, the product is real, and the trajectory is genuinely open. Designers who come in early and perform well here will have a natural path into creative and product leadership as the team grows. This is the kind of opportunity where in two years you could be leading a design team and owning an entire product ecosystem you helped build from scratch. We are not promising titles; we are promising that the growth will be real because the work demands it.
