We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support a government-focused initiative centered on data governance, process standardization, and operational improvement in Richmond, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in evaluating current workflows, defining practical standard operating procedures, and helping teams improve efficiency across functions tied to multiple revenue streams. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, takes ownership of deliverables, and communicates process insights clearly through documentation and visual reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Assess existing business processes and document current-state workflows to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for standardization.
- Create clear and practical standard operating procedures that align data governance objectives with day-to-day operational needs.
- Partner with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, analyze business challenges, and recommend process improvements that support multiple revenue-related functions.
- Develop workflow diagrams, process maps, and other visual materials to help stakeholders understand procedures, dependencies, and recommended changes.
- Use analytical findings to propose solutions that streamline operations, strengthen consistency, and improve overall process performance.
- Produce detailed business documentation, including requirements, gap analyses, and process narratives, to support decision-making and implementation efforts.
- Leverage tools such as Oracle, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, and SQL to organize information, evaluate data, and present actionable insights.
- Collaborate within structured project environments, including Agile-based teams when needed, to track progress and support delivery of business analysis activities.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, or a related function.
- Demonstrated ability to document procedures, evaluate workflows, and translate business needs into clear functional recommendations.
- Strong analytical skills with experience conducting gap analysis, document review, and data-driven assessments.
- Proficiency with Oracle, Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint in a business or operational setting.
- Experience using reporting or visualization tools such as Power BI, process mapping applications, or similar documentation platforms.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL and the ability to interpret data to support business decisions.
- Comfortable engaging with cross-functional stakeholders and presenting findings in a clear, organized manner.
- Experience in government or highly regulated environments is a plus.
