Visual Basic Programmer

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Visual Basic Programmer to support, maintain, and enhance internal business applications and operational systems within a fast-paced consumer products and distribution environment.
This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining Visual Basic applications, supporting business process improvements, troubleshooting system issues, and collaborating with multiple departments to deliver technology solutions that support operational efficiency and business growth.
The ideal candidate will possess strong programming, database, and analytical skills, along with the ability to support both legacy systems and ongoing technology enhancements. Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and a working knowledge of how AI can be applied to automate workflows, enhance reporting, and support data-driven decision-making is strongly preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance Visual Basic (VB/VB.NET) applications and internal business systems.
- Analyze existing software applications and recommend process improvements and system enhancements.
- Support systems related to order processing, inventory management, reporting, distribution, and operational workflows.
- Write, test, debug, and document program code and system modifications.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database integrations.
- Create reports, dashboards, and automated data extraction tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and develop technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot application issues and provide ongoing user support.
- Maintain technical documentation related to programming logic, workflows, and system changes.
- Assist with system upgrades, testing, implementation, and workflow automation initiatives.
- Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance application functionality, automate repetitive processes, and improve operational efficiency.
- Explore and evaluate AI-powered integrations including machine learning models, natural language processing tools, and generative AI platforms to support internal business needs.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities where AI and automation can drive productivity improvements across departments.
- Ensure data integrity, system reliability, and compliance with company technology standards..
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of programming experience in Visual Basic, VB.NET, or related Microsoft development environments.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL Server and relational databases.
- Demonstrated knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts, tools, and applications, including familiarity with AI/ML platforms, large language models (LLMs), and generative AI technologies such as OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, or similar.
- Experience applying AI tools to automate workflows, generate insights from data, or enhance software capabilities is a strong plus.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or SSRS preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Compensation will be based on experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.
