About LuminX
Warehouses still run on clipboards and barcode guns. Every day, billions of dollars in pallets move through docks where humans manually scan, count, and verify — and when something goes wrong, no one notices until a customer complains.
LuminX is changing that. We build AI camera systems that watch every pallet move in real time, read every label and barcode automatically, and surface errors the moment they happen. We're already deployed with major customers in automotive and cold storage, and we're growing quickly. We raised $5.5M in seed funding from top investors and have a senior team that includes alumni from leading robotics and AI companies.
The Role
We’re hiring a Robotics Systems Engineer to own the software and systems that run on our edge AI devices—the embedded compute, cameras, device software, and hardware integrations that make LuminX work in customer warehouses. You’ll spend most of your time on the edge stack, but you’re a hands-on generalist at heart, comfortable moving between software, hardware, and field deployment when the problem calls for it.
Our devices live in real warehouses with real power, networking, temperature, and physical constraints. Debugging at the hardware-software boundary is part of the job, not a side quest. You do not need to be an electrical or mechanical engineer, but you should be comfortable tracing a wiring issue, testing or replacing a component, adjusting a mount, bringing up new hardware, or traveling to a customer site to get a system working.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain software running on NVIDIA Jetson and Rockchip-based edge devices.
- Integrate and troubleshoot cameras, sensors, networking equipment, storage, and other peripherals.
- Build device services for camera capture, health monitoring, telemetry, configuration, and remote management.
- Diagnose issues across Linux, device software, networking, power, and hardware integration.
- Create tools for device provisioning, testing, deployment, logging, and over-the-air updates.
- Support the bring-up and validation of new edge hardware.
- Work with the ML team to deploy and evaluate models on edge devices.
- Work with the hardware team to improve device reliability, installation, and serviceability.
- Travel to customer sites to support installations and diagnose issues.
- Turn lessons from field deployments into better software, tooling, and system design.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in robotics, embedded systems, computer engineering, or a similar hands-on engineering role.
- Experience working with embedded Linux or edge computing platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, Rockchip, or Raspberry Pi.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or both.
- Comfort working in Linux and debugging processes, logs, system services, networking, and connected devices.
- Experience integrating cameras, sensors, compute modules, or other physical hardware.
- A practical understanding of wiring, power, connectors, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues across multiple parts of a system.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work and occasionally travel to customer sites.
- A high degree of ownership and comfort working in an early-stage startup environment.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with JetPack, CUDA, TensorRT, or DeepStream.
- Experience with Rockchip platforms, including RK3588.
- Familiarity with camera interfaces such as MIPI CSI, USB3, GigE, GMSL, or V4L2.
- Experience with GStreamer, FFmpeg, RTSP, or video capture pipelines.
- Familiarity with Docker, OTA updates, fleet management, or cloud telemetry.
- Experience using multimeters or other basic diagnostic equipment.
- Experience deploying robotics, computer vision, industrial automation, or IoT systems in real customer environments
