Junior Design Engineer
Evolve Transporters is a high-end custom fabrication company with locations in greater Indianapolis Indiana and Cleveland Ohio. Our clients are some of the biggest motorsport teams and brands in the world, for which we assist in designing and fabricating race transporters. What You Can Expect In This Role
The Junior Design Engineer will support the engineering team in creating, refining and delivering high-quality transporter designs. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop technical skills in 3D and CAD design, material selection, and manufacturing support while learning from a highly experienced engineering and production team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, excellent attention to detail, and a desire to grow into a lead engineering role in the future.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Assist in creating 3D models with Solidworks, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics for components, assemblies and new product lines under senior engineer guidance.
- Convert sketches and concepts into detailed production drawings.
- Update and revise designs based on feedback from engineering leads and production teams.
Material & Technical Support
- Support in identifying appropriate materials (metals, composites, etc.) for specific design requirements.
- Help prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) for assigned projects.
Collaboration
- Work closely with senior engineers, creative design, and production staff to ensure designs are practical and achievable.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for improving design efficiency.
Project Support
- Provide technical support during new product conception, prototype builds and manufacturing.
- Assist with data collection and simple testing tasks to validate designs.
- Help monitor project progress and document changes as needed.
Continuous Learning
- Develop proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- learn about fabrication processes, sheet metal design, and welding applications in a real-world manufacturing environment.
Top Skills
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Coursework or internship experience with fabrication or manufacturing processes is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and stoop in both office and shop settings.
- Travel expectation: 10 - 25%
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 – 3 years experience in Engineering position.
- Experience in Motorsports, Aerospace, Naval or Transportation industry is highly desirable.
- Exposure to FEA (Finite Element Analysis), testing and validation methods is a plus.
- Understanding of material properties is a plus.
