Role OverviewThe
Manager Actuarial Services manages preparation of actuarial financial reporting for assigned Medicaid lines of business - including internal GAAP, DOI statutory, State Medicaid requirements, and Audit Support requirements.
Work Arrangement- This is a 100% Remote Position
Responsibilities- Manages the review of reserve and revenue calculations for assigned Medicaid lines of business
- Oversees the fulfillment of state reporting requests involving reserves, revenue, or medical loss ratio
- Communicates monthly IBNR calculations and underlying drivers to actuarial department and company leadership through the monthly close process
- Prepares actuarial certifications, opinions, and actuarial memorandums where required
- Works closely with various business partners, including but not limited to Actuarial Pricing & Planning Experts (APEX), Finance, Accounting, and Market Operations
- Responsible for managing all staff in support of the assigned lines of businesses, including organization, hiring, development and assuring quality work product
- Adheres to actuarial standards of practice and the code of professional conduct
Education and Experience- Bachelor's Degree actuarial science, statistics, or mathematics or other business field
- Preferred but not required: Member of Academy of Actuaries with FSA or ASA
- Minimum of five to seven (5 - 7) years progressively responsible actuarial experience in managed healthcare or related field, with significant project and/or people management experience
- Medicaid actuarial experience is highly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong data presentation skills
- Excellent project management skills and ability to work/collaborate with internal and external partners
- Strong technical skills including MS Excel, SQL, Python, and healthcare data mining experience
