Mimar Ponte Mellor (MPM) is currently seeking Architect, with 3D Design Capabilities, experienced in managing projects for Federal, State, Municipal, and other commercial clients, to join our Team. You will design new projects using innovative techniques and present to clients for approval.. Furthermore, you will be responsible as Project Manager for projects in various phases, from conceptual planning through design, construction, and completion.
The qualified applicant will be familiar with the design, construction, and management of complex infrastructure projects. The position includes a project planning and design, construction services oversight, schedule/budget management, and client interface, all in an interesting and rewarding Program Management work environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to communicate effectively with project team members, have a high level of initiative and motivation to deliver quality results, have strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to work with clients to provide value-added solutions and maintain strong client relationships.
Our main offices are located in Columbia, MD, Navy Yard, Washington, DC, and branch office in York, PA.
Your Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Responsible for managing complex tasks on multiple, large scope, highly complex projects.
- Effectively participates and helps to win work in interviews for potential projects.
- Plans, organizes, and directs work throughout the project's life cycle to ensure successful delivery to the client.
- Leads the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent.
- Assists in the negotiation and development of project agreements.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and overall work plans to achieve target financial performance.
- Strong ability to motivate staff and promote teamwork within and across offices.
- Assures that MPM Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
- Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, and sub-contractors.
- Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
- Collaborates with the Operations Leader to determine project staffing needs and recommend personnel.
- Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections. A track record of establishing and maintaining client relationships in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast area.
Business Development
- Development and maintenance of industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, partners and potential recruits with a primary focus in Mid-Atlantic or Northeast and the surrounding areas.
- Identification of major/strategic/transformational projects associated with top clients/prospects coming online in the next one to three-year horizon.
- Understand procurement, market trends, and business outlook within sectors.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Perform client needs assessments in coordination with Sector/Regional leadership for clients within the Account Management program.
- Translate client/business needs into effective business development strategies and corresponding marketing collateral and selling material.
- Meet and build relationships with targeted clients with the objective of introducing MPM and increasing our exposure for that specific program and project pursuit and related ones.
- Develop and/or assist in defining the overall team project pursuit plan win strategy.
- Lead and/or assist with proposal development.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive project experience supports the ability to win work during the proposal response.
- Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Team player with the client, entire project team, and contractor.
- Excellent negotiator and communicator.
- Requires experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Newforma; Prefer understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Projects.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field & Registered Architect. Minimum of 10 years of experience. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
A typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods of time. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally nationally for business development and project work.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Architecture degree
- Architectural registration in multiple states preferred but not required.

Salary is commensurate with experience. This position includes an excellent benefits package.
