About the Positions
We are hiring two Production Assistants to support our performance season and educational programs:
- One position with a Sets & Props focus
- One position with a Costume focus
These are hands-on, execution-based roles that support the creative team’s vision — assisting with the construction, preparation, organization, and maintenance of production elements. Working under the supervision of the Production Managers, the Production Assistants ensure that rehearsals and performances run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain professional experience in theatrical production and grow into future Coordinator or Lead roles within our organization.
Schedule & Growth Opportunities
- 2–3 days per week to start, with hours increasing during production periods, tech weeks, and special events.
- Additional responsibilities and leadership opportunities may be available for the right candidate as the role develops.
Key Responsibilities:
Sets & Props Focus
- Execute set construction, scenic painting, and stage dressing based on designs.
- Pull, repair, and maintain props; ensure all items are show-ready and properly stored.
- Assist with load-in, setup, and strike for rehearsals and performances.
- Support backstage operations such as scene transitions and prop handoffs.
- Maintain scenic tools, materials, and shop spaces in safe, organized condition.
Costumes Focus
- Execute costume assembly, alterations, and fittings as directed by the design team.
- Maintain costumes and accessories (laundering, labeling, repairs, organization).
- Manage costume changes and backstage coordination during performances.
- Support storage, inventory, and upkeep of costume stock and wardrobe spaces.
Shared Responsibilities
- Assist with general production setup, maintenance, and organization.
- Safely transport production elements between locations as needed.
- Ensure safe use and storage of all tools, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborate with staff and students to support rehearsal and performance needs.
- Troubleshoot minor backstage or technical issues as needed.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude in all production environments.
Qualifications
Required:
- 1–3 years of experience in theatre production or related work (educational, community, or professional).
- Must be available for flexible scheduling needs daytime, after school, evening and weekend hours.
- Hands-on experience with costumes or sets/props, based on area of focus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials safely as part of setup and teardown.
- Must have valid drivers license and own car for travel and supplies runs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Successful completion of background check.
Preferred:
- Experience in a theatre, performing arts school, or production company.
- Basic sewing, crafting, painting, or carpentry skills.
- Familiarity with tools, equipment, or creative software
- Understanding of backstage operations and safety protocols.
