Job Overview
Responsible for non-destructive testing (NDT) on CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engine structures and components for cracks indication, defects, or any detrimental conditions in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures. Interpret inspection results and complete required documentation in accordance with established procedures. Maintain inspection equipment and assure proper calibration for tests to be performed.
Responsibilities
- Performs Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of engine and Components employing techniques such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), penetrant testing (PT), and eddy current testing (ET).
- Evaluate test results, interpret data from specialized equipment, and determine if parts meet safety and quality standards.
- Conduct detailed inspections on Engines structures, components, and systems using various non-destructive testing methods
- Accurately document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports for engineers and maintenance staff.
- Set-up, calibration, and utilization of nondestructive testing equipment to conduct final inspection after system/component installations are complete to verify compliance and completeness of work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- NDT certifications, such as NAS 410 or ASNT Level II
- Knowledge of professional practices and sources of information including technical rules and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical publications, and specifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
- Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong computer skills - Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook- and ability to learn other software programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from management, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects
Job Demands
Work is performed in a Shop environment and requires the ability to perform extensive standing, driving, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to manipulate up to 100lbs. with assistance. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb to reach materials, and work in a noisy environment.
