Overview
ZS Architectural Engineering (ZS) is searching for a Building Enclosure Consultant to join our Building Enclosure Group team in our Milwaukee, WI office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building Science Solutions!
Responsibilities
- Provide design consulting and conduct peer reviews of building enclosure plans and specifications.
- Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals related to building enclosures; prepare detailed reports and client deliverables.
- Oversee field performance and water and air leakage testing for roofing, waterproofing systems, weather barriers, windows, curtain walls, and other enclosure assemblies.
- Perform construction administration services, including mock-up evaluations, shop drawing reviews, and on-site inspections; develop comprehensive reports and deliverables.
- Conduct non-destructive and destructive forensic investigations of existing building enclosures; assess and document conditions of wall assemblies, curtain walls, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing, below-grade elements, and system transitions.
- Develop remediation recommendations for building enclosure issues through forensic reports and client consultations.
- Prepare clear, professionally written technical reports.
- Review and annotate drawings and specifications using BlueBeam and Revit.
- Create remedial work recommendations and plans for existing building projects.
- Produce complete construction document packages for new construction and restoration projects.
- Deliver accurate, concise reports for assigned projects.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural Engineering; or 3-5 years of proven building Enclosure construction experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of building construction and building enclosure systems.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on field experience in building enclosure consulting for both new and existing construction projects.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
- Ability to perform both office-based tasks and physical fieldwork.
- Comfortable working at heights and on various platforms, including ladders, scaffolds, boom lifts, and roofs.
- Capable of managing projects independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Professional and consistent interaction with clients and project teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including air travel, as required.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Revit.
- Valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record (required).
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Valued Certifications and Experience
- Hands-on field experience with a variety of building types.
- Certification as a Level I or Level II Infrared Thermographer.
- ABAA-certified Field Auditor or Air Barrier Specialist.
- Active IIBEC registrations (RRO, RRC, RWC, REWC, REWO, RBEC, and/or CBECxP).
- Experience conducting whole-building airtightness testing
- Familiarity with ASTM and AAMA standards for air and water infiltration testing of enclosure assemblies.
- Safety training and certifications for scaffolds and aerial lifts.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
- Active participation in professional organizations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
