Company Description
We are a mission-driven organization working on complex, real-world issues that demand clarity, credibility, and human connection. Our work lives at the intersection of ideas, people, and impact. Storytelling is not an add-on—it is how our mission becomes legible to the public, partners, and decision-makers.

Role Description
We are seeking a Narrative & Media Communications Specialist for a full-time, hybrid role based in the Washington, DC–Baltimore Metropolitan Area.
This role is responsible for shaping how the organization is understood. The focus is not just visibility, but meaning—turning programs, research, and lived experience into coherent narratives that travel across media, digital platforms, and stakeholder conversations.
The specialist will steward the organization’s story end-to-end: identifying narratives, developing messages, selecting the right mediums, and ensuring consistency across press, video, and social channels. This role works closely with leadership and program teams to translate mission into stories that resonate and endure.
⸻
Key Responsibilities
• Define and evolve the organization’s core narratives and messaging frameworks
• Translate complex work into clear, human-centered stories for public audiences
• Craft press releases, media pitches, and public statements that advance narrative goals
• Build relationships with journalists and media partners aligned with the organization’s mission
• Produce and oversee video and multimedia storytelling
• Manage social media as a narrative system, not just a posting schedule
• Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and story across all external communications
• Track narrative impact and audience engagement to refine strategy
• Collaborate across teams in a hybrid environment to surface and shape stories
⸻
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in media communications, public relations, or narrative strategy
• Strong storytelling ability across written, visual, and digital formats
• Experience crafting press releases and engaging with media outlets
• Proficiency in video production or multimedia storytelling workflows
• Deep understanding of social media as a storytelling and engagement tool
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to synthesize complex information into accessible narratives
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field preferred
• Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, public affairs, or mission-driven organizations is a plus
