Organizational Overview:
Caught Up Mentoring is a Detroit-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering at-risk youth through mentorship, academic support, restorative practices, and life skill development. Serving over 250 youth annually, the organization provides transformative programs like Midnight Basketball, college and career prep, trauma-informed care, and reentry support for court-involved youth.
Position Summary:
The Grant Writer will play a critical role in advancing the mission of Caught Up by securing funding through well-researched, compelling grant proposals. This individual will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities, writing proposals, submitting applications, and managing post-award reporting. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with a deep understanding of nonprofit funding, youth development, and social impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Draft, edit, and submit clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals, LOIs, and supporting documents.
- Work with program staff to gather relevant data, success stories, budgets, and program metrics.
- Maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare grant progress reports and collaborate on donor updates as needed.
- Assist in developing boilerplate language for organizational mission, programs, and success stories.
- Attend weekly check-in meetings with the Executive Director or Development Team.
- Support the planning of fundraising events and donor cultivation efforts as needed.f
