Advanced Automation is looking for a motivated mechanical designer who’s ready to apply their engineering education in a hands-on, real-world environment. In this role, you’ll work with SolidWorks to create 3D models of machines and components—ranging from simple concepts to complex automation systems.
At Advanced Automation, we design, build, program, and test all our equipment in-house. This means you’ll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of custom automation projects. We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, communicates well, and thrives in a team setting.
Role Summary:
• Create 3d models, layouts, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks
• Support software and electrical support requests
• Help with BOM updates and part revisions
• Prototyping
• Communicate with vendors
• Assemble systems and complete in field retrofits
•Support senior engineers with revisions and design work
Required Skills:
• SolidWorks 3D modeling experience
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude
• Good Communication, Organization, Teamwork
• Interest in Automation and Custom Machinery
Additional Skills (Preferred for Associate-level candidates but not required):
• Experience with large assemblies
• Sheet metal and weldment design
• Familiarity with machined components and tolerancing
• Manufacturing or machine shop exposure
• Prior mechanical design experience (1+ year)

Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Engineering degree or related technical education (ME)
Experience:
• Mechanical design experience (school projects, internships, or 1 year preferred)

Travel: Generally in the New England Region ~5-10%
