Job Summary
We are seeking a Silicon Photonics Assembly Engineer to develop automated active alignment processes for FAU-to-PIC and PIC-to-lens assemblies. This hands-on role focuses on precision tooling, advanced assembly, and next-generation silicon photonics solutions for AI, HPC, and data center applications. Full training on automated and manual fiber alignment systems is provided.
Responsibilities
- Develop automated active alignment for laser-to-PIC coupling
- Optimize UV and thermal epoxy curing processes
- Own NPI photonics assembly engineering activities
- Create and review travelers based on SOWs
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Quality teams
- Improve yield, efficiency, and cost
- Provide weekly NPI project reports
- Mentor team members and support IP development
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or equivalent
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 2+ years experience in photonics assembly or process development
- Experience with high-precision pick-and-place systems (±0.5 µm)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Knowledge of optics, SPC, DOE
- Software: SolidWorks, Python, MATLAB, C/C++, LabVIEW
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment
Preferred
- Optomechanical or photonics tooling experience
- Micro-assembly processes (bonding, epoxy, vision alignment)
- FEA experience (SolidWorks Simulation)
