Location: Remote | Midwest preferred, ideally with reasonable access to a major airport
Travel: Approximately 2-3 times per year
Experience: 5+ years of marketing experience
Role Summary
We are seeking a Strategic Marketing Manager to serve as a key strategic partner and right hand to the Marketing Director, helping translate broader marketing and business goals into clear, actionable strategies.
This role is ideal for a marketer who wants to do more than maintain existing programs. We're looking for a builder and strategic thinker who can generate ideas, develop the strategy behind them, gain stakeholder buy-in, and take initiatives from concept through implementation.
The Strategic Marketing Manager will lead work across content strategy, integrated marketing and lead generation, and family and guardian engagement, partnering with teams across Marketing, Growth, Operations, Government Relations, Communications, and state leadership.
What You'll Do
Strategic Marketing & Integrated Campaigns
- Partner closely with the Marketing Director to translate organizational priorities into actionable marketing strategies and initiatives.
- Develop integrated marketing campaigns that build awareness, educate key audiences, generate interest, and support measurable business outcomes.
- Own lead-generation strategies across priority services and audiences, including qualified referrals and family and guardian interest.
- Partner with Digital Marketing, Growth, Sales, Enterprise Marketing, Government Relations, and state teams to define audiences, messaging, offers, channels, and conversion pathways.
- Develop campaign briefs and activation plans that connect strategy to execution and measurable results.
- Identify successful programs and campaigns that can be scaled across states and service lines.
Content Strategy
- Develop and manage a comprehensive content strategy supporting awareness, education, trust, engagement, and conversion.
- Build and maintain a content roadmap aligned with priority audiences, service lines, business needs, and marketing campaigns.
- Translate audience insights, stakeholder feedback, and business priorities into relevant content and communications.
- Develop scalable content across web, email, social media, referral and sales materials, educational resources, and thought leadership in partnership with teams across the organization.
- Identify content gaps and opportunities and prioritize development based on audience needs and potential business impact.
Family & Guardian Engagement
- Own and evolve the Family & Guardian engagement, including processes, tools, calendars, communications, and state support.
- Develop and refine toolkits, communication templates, meeting materials, onboarding resources, and feedback processes.
- Support state teams with family and guardian group recruitment, meeting preparation, and ongoing implementation.
- Capture and synthesize feedback, translating insights into actionable marketing recommendations, communications, and resources.
- Track participation, actions, and outcomes and provide meaningful updates to leadership.
Measurement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Establish clear objectives and KPIs across marketing programs, content initiatives, lead generation, and family and guardian engagement efforts.
- Monitor performance and use qualitative and quantitative insights to improve programs and prioritize future work.
- Partner across Marketing, Growth, Operations, Government Relations, Communications, and state teams to align priorities and move initiatives forward.
- Present strategies and recommendations clearly, building support and buy-in across different teams and levels of the organization
What We're Looking For
- The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You should be comfortable working in an evolving environment, developing ideas independently, and turning those ideas into practical plans that others can understand and support.
- You will thrive in this role if you are:
- An excellent writer and communicator with strong messaging and editorial judgment.
- A strategic thinker who can connect audience needs, business priorities, and marketing execution.
- A self-starter who takes initiative and ownership without requiring significant direction.
- Flexible, resourceful, and comfortable thinking on your feet.
- Able to develop an idea, clearly explain why it will work, and create a practical plan for implementation.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- A builder who enjoys creating and improving strategies, programs, processes, and tools rather than simply maintaining what already exists.
- Persuasive and collaborative, with the ability to gain buy-in from Operations, leadership, state teams, and stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities.
- Data-informed and focused on connecting marketing activity to measurable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of marketing experience, ideally across integrated marketing, content strategy, communications, demand generation, or related areas.
- Experience developing and executing marketing strategies and integrated programs across multiple audiences.
- Demonstrated experience developing lead-generation programs tied to measurable outcomes.
- Strong experience developing content strategies and translating audience or stakeholder insights into effective communications and marketing initiatives.
- Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to move multiple workstreams forward simultaneously.
- Excellent writing, messaging, presentation, and editorial skills.
- Experience with HubSpot or a similar marketing automation platform, including campaign execution, lead nurturing, segmentation, reporting, and performance optimization.
- Experience working in a complex, multi-location, or decentralized organization strongly preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, human services, or another regulated industry preferred.
