The Opportunity
Cuddle Clones is a fast-growing, $30M+ e-commerce brand turning beloved pets into custom plush keepsakes. With 250,000+ unique orders processed each year, every transaction is one-of-a-kind, requiring sophisticated software to orchestrate capturing, processing, production, and fulfillment across internal teams and external vendors.
We're midway through a multi-year rebuild of our custom order management system (integrated with Shopify Plus and AWS). Now we need a Head of Technology to own the roadmap, lead and optimize the dev team, and scale our systems for the next stage of growth. You'll report directly to the CEO and have full autonomy to shape the technical future of the company.
This is not a "keep the lights on" position, it's your chance to define the technical direction of a consumer brand with passionate customers and complex technical challenges.

What You'll Do
- Set the Technical Direction: Own the architecture and roadmap for our Shopify Plus ecosystem and AWS-based custom order management platform
- Lead & Optimize the Team: Manage a team of ~7 engineers including QA. You'll restructure and scale as needed to maximize output and efficiency
- Own Integrations & Infrastructure: Drive integration strategy across Shopify, internal systems, and third-party vendor APIs
- Ship with Speed & Stability: Balance stability with aggressive feature delivery, ensuring the team consistently ships reliable work
- Leverage AI in Practice: Implement AI tools across the development lifecycle
- Be the CEO's Technical Partner: Translate vision into clear architecture, team direction, and delivered outcomes
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
- Shopify Plus Expertise: Hands-on experience architecting or scaling Shopify Plus solutions
- Proven Technical Depth & Builder Mentality: You can review code, make architecture calls, and have a portfolio of shipped projects you can walk us through
- AWS Experience: Skilled in designing and scaling production infrastructure on AWS
- Recent AI Application: You've used AI tools in the last 12 months to improve team or product outcomes (not just theory)
- Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated success leading and optimizing technical teams
