Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Controller to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both corporate and non-profit accounting, along with proficiency in various accounting software. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, managing accounts payable and receivable, and preparing financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records through double entry bookkeeping practices
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations
- Conduct general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliation
- Prepare budgets and perform account analysis to support financial planning
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, or other financial software for efficient record-keeping
- Write detailed financial reports for management review
- Ensure adherence to governmental accounting standards when applicable
Skills
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles and non-profit accounting practices
- Knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting standards
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
- Familiarity with debits & credits, journal entries, and bookkeeping procedures
- Ability to prepare comprehensive financial reports and budgets
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in all aspects of accounting tasks
- Excellent 10 key typing skills for efficient data entry
- Experience in tax preparation and compliance is a plus
- Solid understanding of financial concepts related to payroll management
