DeJaVu Estate Sales & Auctions is a high-volume, fast-paced estate auction company specializing in luxury estates, designer handbags, fine jewelry, art, furnishings, collectibles, and decorative arts. We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Auction Cataloger to accurately photograph, research, describe, and prepare items for online auction listings.
The Auction Cataloger plays a critical role in maximizing value for consignors and driving bidder engagement by producing clear, accurate, SEO-optimized catalog listings that meet DeJaVu’s professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
The Auction Cataloger is responsible for identifying, organizing, and cataloging a wide variety of estate items including fine furniture, art, jewelry, handbags, home décor, collectibles, and specialty items. Duties include photographing items, measuring and recording dimensions, noting condition issues, identifying materials and maker marks, and preparing accurate inventory records.
The role includes writing clear, compelling auction descriptions using established DeJaVu formatting, terminology, and SEO keywords. Catalogers must research comparable sales when required and assist with conservative auction estimates based on market data from platforms such as LiveAuctioneers and eBay sold results.
Catalogers must ensure accuracy across all listings, including lot titles, descriptions, measurements, condition notes, and pickup/shipping information. They work closely with the auction manager, operations team, and photography staff to meet strict catalog deadlines for auctions that often exceed 1,000 lots.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential. The ideal candidate has experience with estate sales, auctions, antiques, luxury goods, or resale environments. Familiarity with designer brands, fine jewelry, art styles, and home furnishings is a strong plus.
Candidates must be comfortable working independently, handling multiple items simultaneously, and meeting daily and weekly production goals. Basic computer skills are required, including comfort with auction platforms, inventory systems, and digital photography workflows.
Clear written communication, consistency in formatting, and the ability to follow detailed instructions exactly are critical for success in this role.
Work Environment & Expectations:
This position is hands-on and based in a warehouse, gallery, or estate environment. Standing, lifting, measuring, and handling merchandise are part of the daily workflow. Accuracy, accountability, and meeting deadlines are essential, as catalog quality directly impacts auction performance.
Why Work with DeJaVu:
DeJaVu Estate Sales & Auctions handles some of the most exciting estates in South Florida, including Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Jupiter Island. This role offers exposure to exceptional property, luxury brands, and high-profile auctions in a growing, award-winning company.
