Overview/Summary:
The energy industry is evolving rapidly, with a strong focus on reliability, resiliency, and decarbonization. Our Client is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team and is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to play a leadership role in delivering sustainable and secure energy solutions. This position will lead and mentor electrical engineering staff, work directly with clients, and support strategy development, business growth, and energy transition initiatives.
The role involves partnering with clients to assess energy needs, develop concept-level solutions, and carry them through detailed design and execution. Our Client delivers end-to-end lifecycle services, from early planning through operation and repowering or retirement. A broad understanding of power systems, electrical engineering fundamentals, and experience in consulting, design leadership, project management, Owner’s Engineer, or advisory roles is highly valued.
This position will lead electrical engineering teams providing advisory and design services across multiple market sectors, collaborate with account managers and sales teams on strategic pursuits, and support complex project delivery. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to anticipate challenges and support large, multi-disciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline
- At least 10 years of engineering design and/or consulting experience
- Professional Engineering licensure (any US state), with the ability to acquire a license in additional states if required for a particular project
- Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work, then deliver innovative solutions providing value to both the client and provider
- Demonstrated ability to engage in business growth strategy, including exploration and development of new project opportunities, including knowledge and application of new and emerging technologies
- Experience with proposal development and project execution planning, including scope development and manhour estimates for engineering services
- Passion for mentoring and development of junior technical staff
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Availability to travel as required to support project needs (varies by project but typically less than 25%)
Other highly regarded qualifications include experience with:
- Power distribution systems and microgrids
- Power generation projects exceeding 10MW capacity
- HV or MV Substations
- Renewable energy projects including wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and other technologies
- Energy storage systems
- Power system modeling experience using SKM Power Tools, ETAP or similar modeling software
- Protection and Control, SCADA or power system automation
- Campus utility master planning or decarbonization/climate response planning
- Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems
- Thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam, hot water, chilled water)
