What You’ll Do
The Production Manager (Engraving & Design) is responsible for the accuracy, quality, and flow of all personalized production work.
In the short term, you will quickly learn our processes and maintain current production output and standards. In the long term, you lead, coach, and develop a small production team of 2–3 people, and continuously improve how our shop operates.
This role requires someone who combines a graphic designer’s eye with mechanical know-how. You must be comfortable working directly with engraving machines (laser, rotary, and UV), materials, and photoshop software to achieve the level of craftsmanship our customers expect.
You will:
- Oversee and participate in the daily production flow, including graphic design, engraving, proofing, printing, and finishing
- Ensure deadlines between customer service, fulfillment, and rush requests are being met by managing production priorities and adjusting workflows as needed
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot production equipment such as laser engravers, rotary engravers, UV printers, and CNC machinery
- Maintain high standards for layout, typography, alignment, and finish quality
- Lead, coach, and cross-train a 2–3 person production team
- Contribute to product testing and development
- Identify and implement process improvements, including room setup and thoughtful use of new technology and AI-assisted tools where appropriate
Required Experience & Skills
- 2–3 years of professional graphic design experience using Adobe Photoshop or equivalent software including proficiency in editing
- 2–3 years of hands-on engraving experience or equivalent production engraving and mechanical work
- 1-3 years of proven leadership experience, either formal people management or clear responsibility for guiding others
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including machine setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
- A strong visual sense for layout, typography, spacing, and finish quality
- High attention to detail and consistency
- Comfort working in a hands-on, small-team production environment
- Strong ability to communicate openly and promptly with every other department each day
- Interest in continuous improvement and emerging technology, including how AI can support production workflows
How You Know You’re Right for This Role
You own the production department’s output, from accuracy and quality to pace and delivery. You balance craftsmanship with urgency, moving between design and engraving work while keeping the team focused and work on track. When things get busy, you lead from the floor, communicate clearly across departments, and take responsibility for results. You’re comfortable in a no-ego shop where the CEO wears flip-flops, the team has been building this vision for years, and everyone takes pride in reshaping how memorial products are made and sold online. At the end of the day, the win is simple: great work, done right, by a team you’re proud to be part of.
